Agreement to Terms

Welcome to MileIO. By downloading, installing, or using the MileIO mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and MileIO ("we," "us," or "our").

Description of Service

MileIO is a fuel tracking application for iOS devices that allows you to:

• Log vehicle fuel entries manually or via OCR scanning
• Track fuel efficiency metrics (MPG, L/100km, kWh/100mi, cost per mile)
• Sync data across your Apple devices using iCloud
• Analyze fuel consumption with charts and statistics
• Export fuel data to CSV and PDF formats
• Track both gasoline/diesel and electric vehicle charging

The App is provided free of charge with no in-app purchases or subscriptions.

Privacy and Data

Your Data Ownership

You retain all rights, title, and ownership of your data (vehicle information, fuel entries, notes, and any other content you create in the App). We do not claim ownership of your data.

Privacy Policy

Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. In summary: we don't collect, store, or access your data. Your data stays on your device and in your private iCloud account.

iCloud Sync

The App uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your data across your devices. By using sync features, you agree to Apple's iCloud Terms and Conditions.

User Responsibilities

Accurate Information

You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter into the App. MileIO is a tool for tracking fuel consumption; we are not responsible for incorrect or incomplete data entry.

Legal Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will not:

• Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
• Use the App to harm, harass, or violate the rights of others
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or related systems

Camera Usage

The App requests camera access for OCR scanning of receipts and odometers. You agree to:

• Only scan your own receipts and vehicle odometers
• Not use the camera features to capture inappropriate or illegal content
• Comply with all laws regarding photography and privacy in public places

iCloud Requirements

To use sync features, you must:

• Have an active Apple ID
• Be signed in to iCloud on your device
• Have sufficient iCloud storage available
• Maintain your Apple ID in good standing

Intellectual Property

App Ownership

The App, including its design, code, features, graphics, and documentation, is owned by MileIO and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the App.

License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

• Download and install the App on devices you own or control
• Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes

Restrictions

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
• Sell, rent, lease, or distribute the App
• Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
• Use the App for commercial purposes without our written permission
• Upload the App to any other app store or distribution platform

Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including:

• Merchantability: We don't warrant that the App is suitable for any particular purpose
• Fitness for a Particular Purpose: We don't guarantee the App will meet your specific needs
• Non-Infringement: We don't warrant that the App doesn't infringe third-party rights
• Accuracy: We don't guarantee calculations or OCR results are 100% accurate
• Availability: We don't guarantee the App will always be available or error-free

OCR Accuracy: The App uses optical character recognition (OCR) to scan receipts and odometers. OCR accuracy depends on image quality, lighting, and receipt format. We do not guarantee 100% accuracy. You are responsible for verifying all scanned data.

iCloud Sync: Sync functionality depends on Apple's iCloud service. We are not responsible for iCloud outages, sync failures, or data loss due to iCloud issues.

Fuel Calculations: The App calculates fuel efficiency metrics based on data you provide. We are not responsible for calculation errors resulting from inaccurate input data.

Limitation of Liability

This includes, but is not limited to, damages arising from:

• Use or inability to use the App
• OCR scanning errors or inaccuracies
• Data loss or corruption (including iCloud sync issues)
• Vehicle damage or accidents (the App is not a substitute for vehicle maintenance)
• Financial losses based on fuel tracking data
• Unauthorized access to your device or iCloud account
• Third-party actions (including Apple iCloud service issues)

Maximum Liability: In any case, our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the App (which is $0, since the App is free).

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability, so these limitations may not apply to you.

Termination

By You

You may stop using the App at any time by:

• Uninstalling the App from your devices
• Deleting your iCloud data (Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > MileIO > Delete Data)

By Us

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Use the App for illegal purposes
• Engage in abusive or harmful behavior

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your license to use the App immediately ends
• You must uninstall the App from all devices
• Your data remains in your iCloud account (under your control)
• Sections that should survive termination (Disclaimers, Limitations, Indemnification) continue to apply

Changes to the App

We reserve the right to:

• Modify, update, or discontinue features of the App
• Release new versions with bug fixes and improvements
• Change the App's design or functionality

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes through App Store update notes.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes:

• We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top
• We'll notify you in the App or via the App Store
• Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance

Governing Law and Disputes

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution: Before filing any legal action, you agree to contact us at juergen+mileio@klaassen.consulting to resolve the dispute informally.

Jurisdiction

For any legal proceedings, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of state and federal courts in San Francisco County, California.

Third-Party Services

Apple Services

The App integrates with Apple services:

• iCloud/CloudKit: For data sync (Apple Terms)
• Vision Framework: For OCR processing (on-device)
• App Store: For distribution (App Store Terms)

Your use of Apple services is governed by Apple's terms, not these Terms.

No Other Third Parties

The App does not integrate with any other third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.
